South Bend Schools Initiate Plan to Enhance Cultural Competency
South Bend Community School Corporation is implementing a new plan to improve cultural competency within its schools. Superintendent Mansour Eid presented the plan, which focuses on short-term, attainable goals, at a recent school board meeting. The initiative includes forming a committee of board members, teachers, principals, and community members to identify areas for improvement. Key objectives include acknowledging historical racial harms, increasing certified teachers, and implementing recommendations from the Reparative Justice Commission. The plan also emphasizes anti-bias training for employees and aims to create a more inclusive and equitable educational environment.
