Firefox Smart Window Beta Introduces AI Web Search and Automatic Tab Grouping
Mozilla has announced new features for its AI-powered Firefox Smart Window beta, designed to enhance user productivity and web browsing experience. The Smart Window, which functions as a separate, optional window with an AI assistant, now includes automatic tab grouping for related tabs and duplicate tab detection. A new partnership with Exa, an AI-focused search and web retrieval company, allows Smart Window to retrieve current web information and display sources directly within the assistant, eliminating the need to navigate to a separate search results page. Additionally, users can input natural-language prompts to find past browsing history, with visual previews of pages. Future updates are planned to include surfacing recent browsing journeys, pulling together related tabs and history, and assisting with online form completion. Smart Window is currently available in English for Firefox users in the U.S. and Canada.
