Rain and Cooler Temperatures Expected in the Bay Area Overnight
The Bay Area is set to experience light to moderate rain overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning, as a low-pressure system moves through the region. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, this system is causing an unusual north-to-south precipitation pattern, which could bring rain to areas typically shielded by the coastal mountains. Thunderstorms were reported earlier on Wednesday in the North Bay, Diablo Range, and Santa Cruz Mountains, but precipitation is expected to become more widespread and less intense overnight. High temperatures inland are forecasted to remain in the upper 60s to low 70s, which is 5 to 10 degrees below the seasonal average for late May. Coastal areas, including San Francisco, may see slightly warmer conditions due to a weaker sea breeze.
