Two Families Displaced, Dog Rescued After San Jose Townhome Fire
A fire heavily damaged two townhomes in San Jose early Friday morning, resulting in the displacement of two families and the rescue of a dog. Calls reporting the structure fire at a townhome complex on Bellhurst Avenue came in around 4:30 a.m. The second floor of one townhome was destroyed, and the fire subsequently spread to an adjacent unit that was undergoing a remodel. Both units sustained significant damage. While the family of three and their dog were displaced from their home, the occupants of the neighboring unit, who were preparing to move back in after the remodel, are now unable to do so. More than 30 emergency responders were on the scene, and despite access challenges due to the densely populated street, officials reported that residents were cooperative, aiding in bringing the incident under control. No injuries were reported, and the San Jose Fire Department confirmed the fire was under control by 5:23 a.m. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
