Jury Rules in Favor of DLA Piper in Discrimination Case Involving Former Employee
A Manhattan federal jury has ruled in favor of DLA Piper in a discrimination lawsuit filed by former employee Anisha Mehta. Mehta alleged that she was fired because she took parental leave, but the firm justified the termination by citing her work performance as 'sloppy' and 'catastrophic.' Despite Mehta presenting evidence of positive work reviews, a bonus, and involvement in an important matter, the jury found that DLA Piper did not discriminate against her under the New York City Human Rights Law. The jury also determined that the firm did not interfere with Mehta’s Family and Medical Leave Act rights or commit retaliation.
