Kane County Health Department Urges Vaccination Amid Measles Concerns
The Kane County Health Department is advocating for increased vaccination efforts to protect children against measles, especially as summer camps and activities commence. Measles, a highly contagious disease, continues to pose a threat across the United States, including Illinois, often linked to travel and insufficient vaccination coverage. Michael Isaacson, the health department's executive director, emphasized the importance of vaccinations and good health practices to safeguard children in environments where they are in close contact, such as classrooms and camps. The department recommends the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine, which is about 97% effective with two doses. They advise parents to ensure their children are up to date with vaccinations and to practice good hygiene habits.
