Bed-Stuy Site to Transform into Affordable Housing and Community Space
The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) has announced plans to redevelop a city-owned site in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, into a mixed-use project featuring 100% affordable housing and community services. The project, named 'Fulton-Howard West,' will transform the Bedford-Stuyvesant Multi-Service Center and adjacent vacant land on Fulton Street. This initiative is part of Mayor Zohran Mamdani's administration's efforts to address the housing crisis by utilizing public land for affordable housing. The development will include expanded space for existing community organizations and aims to provide housing for low-income residents. The project is currently in the community engagement phase, with public input being sought to shape the final design and services offered.
