Korean-Egyptian Archaeological Team Discovers Ancient Temple Gate Blocks in Luxor
A Korean-Egyptian archaeological team has uncovered blocks from the gate of the Ramesseum temple in Luxor, Egypt. This discovery is part of a restoration project aimed at preserving one of Egypt's most significant funerary temples, which serves as a historical record of Pharaoh Ramesses II's reign. The project, initiated in 2022, involves collaboration between Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage. The restoration is planned to occur in two phases over a decade, with the first phase focusing on the temple's First Pylon. The Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities Minister, Sherif Fathy, praised the project as a model of international cooperation in heritage preservation.
