U.S. and Norway Enhance Arctic Security Cooperation Amid Rising Tensions
The United States and Norway have intensified their military and coast guard activities in the Arctic, reflecting a coordinated Western approach to security in the region. This summer, the U.S. Coast Guard and Norwegian Coast Guard conducted joint exercises, including Operation Arctic Cohesion 2026, focusing on interoperability and Arctic operations. Additionally, the U.S. and Norwegian navies tested advanced unmanned maritime systems in northern Norway. These efforts are part of NATO's broader Arctic Sentry initiative, aimed at enhancing vigilance and operational coordination in the High North.
