Michigan Man Charged in 33-Year-Old Fairbanks Murder Case
A Michigan man, Christopher Popps, has been charged with the murder of Patrick Dearth, who disappeared nearly 33 years ago in Fairbanks, Alaska. According to the Alaska State Troopers, Popps was indicted on two counts of second-degree murder after an anonymous tip led investigators to Dearth's remains. The remains were found in a barrel near the Steese Highway, identified by the State Medical Examiner’s Office as Dearth’s. Popps, who allegedly confessed to the crime, was arrested by Michigan State Police and is awaiting extradition to Alaska.
