Calais School Committee Approves Planning for International Student Trips
The Calais School Committee has endorsed plans for an international trip for students from Calais Middle/High School. Social studies teacher Earl Watts presented a proposal for an inaugural trip to Ireland, Scotland, and England, tentatively scheduled for spring break 2028. This program aims to offer high school and undergraduate college credit through a multidisciplinary curriculum combined with study abroad. The trip would be open to students in grades nine through twelve who meet specific criteria, including maintaining good academic standing and limiting truancy and detentions. Watts plans to chaperone the trip and act as a liaison between EF Tours and the school, working with English and art teachers to develop educational materials.
