Canada and Germany Sign LNG Supply Agreement Amid Global Energy Uncertainty
Canada has reached a non-binding agreement with Germany's state-owned energy firm SEFE to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) from a proposed export facility in British Columbia. This marks Canada's first LNG supply deal with a European buyer, highlighting efforts to diversify energy trade in response to global market uncertainties. The agreement involves the purchase of one million tons of LNG annually from the Ksi Lisims project, which is a collaboration between Western LNG, Rockies LNG, and the Nisga'a First Nation. The deal is part of a broader strategy by both Canada and Germany to secure alternative energy supplies following disruptions in Russian pipeline gas and ongoing geopolitical tensions.
