Chilean President José Antonio Kast has initiated a significant security measure by overseeing the transfer of nearly 300 high-risk inmates to the newly inaugurated La Laguna Prison. This facility, situated approximately 250 kilometers south of the capital, Santiago, is central to Kast's broader strategy to combat organized crime, alleviate severe prison overcrowding, and dismantle criminal networks operated remotely by incarcerated gang leaders.
