Evanston Township High School Closes Due to Ransomware Attack, FBI Investigates
Evanston Township High School in Illinois has been forced to close its doors for at least two days following a ransomware attack that disrupted the school's computer infrastructure, internet services, and other electronic systems. The attack led to the cancellation of all summer school classes, camps, and additional campus activities. District 202 officials have activated emergency response procedures and are working with external cyber breach attorneys and cybersecurity forensic experts to investigate and recover from the incident. The FBI is also involved in the investigation. The full scope of the data breach is still unknown, and the school is working to determine what information may have been accessed or acquired. The closure is necessary as critical systems required for safe campus operations, including network and internet services, are affected.
