Tragic Channel Crossing Leaves Two Dead and Several Injured
A tragic incident occurred when a small boat carrying migrants attempting to cross the English Channel from France to the UK ran aground, resulting in the deaths of two women and injuries to 16 others. The vessel, which set out from Hardelot beach, experienced engine failure and began to drift, leading to the grounding. French authorities rescued 17 people, while the remaining 65 were left on the makeshift boat. The deceased women, believed to be in their 20s from Sudan, likely died from suffocation due to overcrowding. This marks the third deadly incident in recent months involving migrants attempting the perilous crossing.
