Severe Weather Outbreak with Tornado Threat Persists in Central Plains
A significant severe weather outbreak continues to impact the Central Plains, with strong to intense tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds reported. According to Yahoo News, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Tornado Watch for parts of Kansas and Nebraska, including areas near Pawnee City, Nebraska, where a tornado emergency was declared. Over two dozen tornadoes were reported on Sunday, with additional severe weather expected Monday night. The most affected areas include southeastern Nebraska, northeastern Kansas, southwestern Iowa, and parts of Missouri. Hail larger than baseballs and wind gusts exceeding 70 mph have been observed, causing damage to structures, trees, and vehicles. The outbreak is part of a multi-day severe weather event that began over the weekend and is expected to extend into Tuesday, albeit with a reduced tornado threat.
