Blue Angels Commander Labels Pensacola Beach Flyover as 'Unsafe'
The commander of the Navy's Blue Angels, Capt. Adam Bryan, has confirmed that a recent flyover of a crowded beach in Pensacola, Florida, was deemed 'unsafe' by the team's safety standards. The incident occurred during an 'arrival' maneuver as part of the Red, White and Blue Air Show, an annual event featuring various aircraft performances. The flyover resulted in jet blasts that sent beach chairs and umbrellas tumbling, raising safety concerns. Capt. Bryan emphasized that the team never intends to fly over crowds at such low altitudes and assured that the incident would be thoroughly reviewed in their debriefing process. Despite the safety concerns, the flyover was celebrated on social media by senior military leaders and officials, including a meme from the Defense Department and comments from the Acting Secretary of the Navy, Hung Cao.
