Felipe Cabrera Sarabia, known as 'El Inge,' a former associate of the Sinaloa Cartel and Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, has been released from a federal prison in Lompoc, California, after serving a sentence of just over 19 years for heroin trafficking. He was released on September 4, a day earlier than scheduled, and is now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Adelanto Processing Center in California, awaiting deportation to Mexico. Cabrera Sarabia pleaded guilty in January 2023 to a charge related to the trafficking of 15 kilograms of heroin from Mexico to Chicago, Illinois, an operation for which $715,000 was reportedly paid. U.S. authorities indicated that he coordinated drug trafficking operations under the instructions of Ismael Zambada García. His defense highlighted his cooperation with U.S. authorities, including providing information in interviews, and his sentence was reduced for good behavior and time served in Mexico.
