Nashville Food Project Expands Urban Farming Network to Support Community Agriculture
The Nashville Food Project is enhancing its Community Agriculture Network to support urban farms, gardens, and orchards across Davidson County. This initiative aims to provide resources such as land access, water, infrastructure, and educational tools to locally controlled gardens. The network includes various community gardens like the McGruder Community Garden and the Growing Together Farm, which hosts a weekly farmers market featuring Southeast Asian staples. The project recently expanded the Community Farm at Mill Ridge Park with an orchard, aiming to create long-term food systems. The Nashville Food Project's CEO, C.J. Sentell, emphasizes using food as a tool to build community and address food insecurity, while also promoting urban agriculture as a creative approach to urban planning.
