AI Tool Shows Promise in Early ADHD Risk Detection
A study from Duke Health demonstrates that artificial intelligence (AI) can analyze electronic health records (EHRs) to estimate a child's risk of developing attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) years before a typical diagnosis. The AI model, trained on data from over 140,000 children, identifies patterns in medical history that precede ADHD diagnoses. While the tool does not diagnose ADHD, it helps clinicians focus resources on children at higher risk, potentially reducing delays in intervention.
