Montgomery County Program Empowers Teens to Lead on Mental Health Issues
Montgomery County, Maryland, is empowering teenagers to address mental health issues through the BTheOne Ambassador Program. The initiative involves young people from 17 schools across the county, helping their peers tackle challenges related to mental health. The program operates on the belief that youth-led efforts are uniquely powerful, as students are closely connected to their peers and understand contemporary challenges. Participants have been trained in life-saving overdose response techniques and have contributed to various projects promoting health and wellness. The program encourages teens to support each other in reducing screen time and engaging in alternative activities.
