Brandon Fisher's Innovative Drilling Plan Rescues 33 Miners in Chile
In 2010, a significant mining accident occurred in Chile's Atacama Desert, trapping 33 miners underground after a massive rock collapse. Brandon Fisher, founder of Center Rock Inc., a Pennsylvania-based drill-bit manufacturing company, played a crucial role in the rescue operation. Fisher designed a rescue plan known as Plan B, which involved widening a narrow borehole to reach the miners. His company, with prior experience in a similar rescue in Pennsylvania, manufactured the necessary equipment. The operation was successful, and all 33 miners were rescued after 69 days underground.
