Archaeologists Uncover Lost Sacred Lake at Karnak Temple, Offering New Insights into Ancient Egyptian Rituals
Archaeologists have discovered a sacred lake at the Karnak Temple Complex in Luxor, Egypt, which has been hidden for millennia. This man-made reservoir, found within the Montu Temple precinct, is the first of its kind to undergo systematic excavation. The lake, covering over 50 square meters, is believed to have played a significant role in ancient Egyptian religious ceremonies. The excavation, led by a joint Egyptian-Chinese team, marks a significant breakthrough in understanding the religious practices of ancient Egypt. The discovery provides new data for scholars, offering insights into the use of water in rituals and the architectural design of Egyptian temples.
