Gann Fire in Calaveras County Expands, Prompting Evacuations and Local Emergency Declaration
The Gann Fire in Calaveras County, California, has rapidly expanded, burning over 6,495 acres and prompting additional evacuations. The fire, which started near New Hogan Lake, has led to a local state of emergency declaration by the Calaveras County Sheriff. More than 250 personnel are battling the blaze, with resources including Firehawk helicopters. The fire has destroyed homes and continues to threaten residential areas. An evacuation shelter has been established, and displaced livestock are being accommodated at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.
