American Artist Hilde Lynn Helphenstein Found Dead in São Paulo Hotel
Hilde Lynn Helphenstein, an American artist and social media satirist known for her Instagram persona Jerry Gogosian, was found dead at the Rosewood hotel in São Paulo, Brazil. Her death was confirmed by a spokesperson from the hotel, and local authorities are investigating it as a suspicious death. Helphenstein gained prominence in the art world through her Instagram account, which critiqued art dealers and fair management, amassing over 151,000 followers. She previously ran an art gallery in Los Angeles before launching her Instagram account in 2018 after a prolonged illness. Her account became a platform for her opinions and led to various projects, including a Sotheby’s sale of emerging artists. Helphenstein had recently signed with United Talent Agency and published a newsletter on Substack, while also hosting a podcast. She had announced her intention to step away from social media last year.
