Zero Waste Scotland Promotes Circular Economy to Reduce Waste
Zero Waste Scotland, the nation's circular economy public body, is actively working to transition the economy from a 'take, make, waste' model to a more sustainable, resource-efficient one. The organization collaborates with government, businesses, and communities to reduce natural resource consumption and promote sustainable behaviors. Over the past decade, Zero Waste Scotland has been instrumental in shaping policies like the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024, which aims to move the country away from waste reliance. The organization has also launched national campaigns to increase public awareness and encourage practical actions to keep valuable materials in use longer. These efforts have supported over 200 companies, created 70 jobs, and delivered significant carbon savings.
