The European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) has identified Roberto Vannacci, a former general and emerging leader of the far-right party Futuro Nazionale, as a potential threat to European stability. This assessment stems from his alleged pro-Kremlin sympathies, his calls to cease arms shipments to Ukraine, and his past role as a military attaché in Moscow. Vannacci has gained notoriety for his populist ideas and provocative statements, which have led to a significant rise in his polling numbers, reaching 7% without having participated in national elections. His growing influence is causing concern among Italian political analysts, who suggest it might accelerate discussions within the governing coalition about holding early elections.
