Tops Friendly Markets Recalls Peeled Garlic Due to Botulism Risk
Tops Friendly Markets, a New York-based supermarket chain, has issued a recall for all bags of peeled garlic distributed from two brands due to potential bacterial contamination. The recall, announced on April 1, involves garlic from California-based Christopher Ranch and Florida-based Garland. The garlic was reportedly stored at insufficient temperatures, posing a risk of foodborne illness or botulism caused by Clostridium botulinum. Consumers are advised not to consume the garlic even if it appears unspoiled. As of early April, no illnesses have been reported. The garlic was sold at Tops locations in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. Customers can return the garlic for a full refund.
