Severe Storms and Flood Threat Target Central U.S. This Week
The Plains are set to experience multiple rounds of severe storms this week, with risks of baseball-sized hail, tornadoes, and flash flooding. According to FOX Weather, the severe weather will stretch from the Dakotas to the Texas Panhandle and eastern New Mexico. Denver experienced a significant hailstorm on Monday, causing travel disruptions and flight delays. The severe weather is fueled by Gulf moisture and a dip in the jet stream, creating conditions for heavy rainfall and slow-moving thunderstorms. A Level 2 out of 5 severe weather risk is in place for parts of Wyoming, Nebraska, and the Dakotas, with a Level 2 flash flood threat in North Dakota. The flood risk will expand into the Upper Midwest by midweek.
