Ford Recalls Nearly 420,000 Vehicles Due to Seat Belt Malfunction Risk
Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 420,000 vehicles due to a seat belt issue that could lead to injury in the event of a crash. The recall affects certain Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models from the years 2018 through 2022. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the seat belts in these vehicles may lock inadvertently, preventing them from retracting or extending properly. This malfunction could result in injury during a crash or if the seat belt retracts too quickly. The recall is an expansion of two previous recalls by the NHTSA. Ford has reported two warranty claims and two field reports related to this issue, as well as one injury. Vehicle owners will be notified by mail and can have their seat belt retractors inspected and replaced at no cost at Ford or Lincoln dealerships.
