Lawmakers Urge Pentagon and OMB to Support U.S. Army's MV-75 Cheyenne II Program
A bipartisan group of 87 lawmakers, led by Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) and Representative Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), has sent a letter to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought. The letter advocates for continued funding for the U.S. Army's Bell MV-75 Cheyenne II tiltrotor program. The MV-75 is intended to replace a significant portion of the Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk fleet. Lawmakers emphasized the MV-75's importance as the Pentagon's sole active vertical lift development program and a top modernization priority, crucial for maintaining decisive overmatch in contested environments. The call for support comes amidst recent funding uncertainties that have impacted the program's schedule, with Textron CEO Lisa Atherton indicating the company would self-fund some activities to keep it on track while awaiting reprogrammed funds.
