Pakistan's Health Workforce Strategy Aims to Boost Economic Growth
Pakistan has launched a new health workforce strategy supported by the United Nations, aiming to reform healthcare while promoting economic growth. The initiative focuses on improving the quality, protection, and skills of health workers, treating them as strategic human capital. The first phase will support 20,000 health workers, expanding to 80,000 in the second phase. The program integrates healthcare reform with labor market development, emphasizing occupational safety, employment formalization, and gender equality. This approach aligns with global policy shifts post-COVID-19, recognizing the need for sustained investment in healthcare personnel alongside infrastructure.
