Brooklyn Public Library to Host Premiere of '9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero' Documentary
The Brooklyn Public Library will host the New York premiere of the documentary "9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero" on September 10 at its Central Library. The film focuses on the rebuilding of Ground Zero and the significant role of public participation in shaping the site after the September 11 attacks. It revisits 'Listening to the City,' a public forum held in 2002 that brought together over 5,000 New Yorkers. During this forum, participants considered six proposals for the site but ultimately developed a broader vision that influenced the design existing today. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring filmmaker Josh Sabey, AmericaSpeaks founder Carolyn Lukensmeyer, and NYC Civic Engagement Commission Chair and Executive Director Dr. Sarah Sayeed, with New York Times architecture critic Michael Kimmelman moderating.
