Elliott Museum in Florida Utilizes High-Tech Boomerang System for Classic Car Display
The Elliott Museum in Stuart, Florida, is showcasing its collection of classic cars and Florida history with a unique technological twist. Beyond its exhibits of vintage automobiles, early bicycles, and local Treasure Coast stories, the museum employs a one-of-a-kind robotic 'boomerang' system. This system efficiently parks classic cars on multiple levels, maximizing the use of vertical space within the museum. Car enthusiast Jim Serra frequently visits the museum, which features vehicles like a 1957 Chevy Bel Air convertible. The boomerang system, one of only four ever built and the sole one still operational, allows visitors to view selected vehicles in a 360-degree perspective as they are brought down from storage by Jim Butterworth, the director of facilities for the Historical Society of Martin County. The museum's collection includes 55 classic cars, alongside art exhibits and historical artifacts related to Stuart's past as a hub for bootleggers and rum runners.
