Amazon Warehouse Worker Dies at Oregon Facility Amid Safety Concerns
An Amazon employee at the Troutdale, Oregon warehouse, known as PDX9, died on the job last week. The worker collapsed and was found dead as other employees continued their tasks. Amazon confirmed the incident and expressed condolences, providing support to the worker's family and colleagues. The company stated that Oregon's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) determined the death to be non-work related. However, employees speculated that high temperatures in the warehouse, exacerbated by soundproof curtains, might have contributed to the incident. The PDX9 facility has a history of harsh working conditions, with a 2018 investigation revealing a high injury rate among employees. Amazon has faced scrutiny over warehouse safety, with ongoing investigations by federal agencies.
