Colombian Influencer Yeferson Cossio Banned by Avianca Following In-Flight Incident
Colombian influencer Yeferson Cossio has been banned from using Avianca's services until August 21, 2027, following an incident on a flight from Bogotá to Madrid on March 11. Cossio activated a 'stink bomb' on board, which the airline stated compromised the safety, comfort, order, and discipline of the flight, as well as its sanitation. Avianca had filed a lawsuit against Cossio on March 29, which has now concluded through a restorative justice process. As part of this resolution, Cossio accepted the ban and issued an apology to Avianca and the flight crew for his behavior. Cossio, who has over 12 million followers, claimed the device depressurized accidentally and posed no real risk, but Avianca maintained that such conduct is unacceptable, especially when the aircraft was over the Atlantic Ocean, far from any potential emergency landing site.
