L’Etoile Newspaper's Legacy and Editor Louis-A. Biron Honored in New Book Chapter
A new chapter from Louise Peloquin’s upcoming book, "L’Etoile: A Star on Prince Street," is being serialized, focusing on Louis-A. Biron, the longest-serving editor and proprietor of L’Etoile, a French-language newspaper published in Lowell from 1881 to 1957. The chapter, titled "He Steered the Course," details Biron’s life, from his birth in Quebec in 1861 to his death in 1947. It highlights his dedication to French-language journalism in New England, his role in founding L’Impartial, and his unwavering commitment to serving the Franco-American community. Biron, who led L’Etoile for 37 years, was known for his humility, intelligence, and strength, and he declined prestigious international recognition, prioritizing his mission to his community.
