Rainy Vermont City Marathon Expected to Set Record
The Vermont City Marathon, taking place this Sunday, is expected to be the wettest in its 35-year history. According to NBC5, steady rain is forecast throughout the morning, with heavier downpours likely during the early hours of the race. This year's event marks a rare occurrence, as only eight of the previous 35 marathons have experienced measurable rainfall. The rain is attributed to a slow-moving low-pressure system over the Great Lakes, which is bringing widespread precipitation to the region. Temperatures during the marathon are expected to range from the upper 40s to around 50°F (8–10°C), with light winds initially, increasing to gusts of 20–30 mph later in the day.
