NSO Group's Pegasus Spyware Allegedly Misused by Governments to Target Dissidents
The NSO Group, an Israeli technology firm, is facing allegations that its Pegasus spyware has been misused by various governments to target dissidents, journalists, diplomats, and politicians. Although the company claims that Pegasus is sold exclusively to governments for tracking criminals and terrorists, reports suggest that the software has been deployed against individuals who are not involved in criminal activities. Pegasus allows its operators to access all data on a target's mobile phone, including emails, text messages, and photographs, and can activate the phone's recorder and camera, effectively turning it into a surveillance device.
