Family Reunites with Lost Cat After Seven Years, Highlighting Importance of Microchipping
A family in Georgia has been reunited with their cat, Dodger, seven years after he went missing during a move from California. The cat, named after the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, was lost when the family moved to Florida in 2018. Dodger escaped from a friend's vehicle during the move and was not seen again until February, when he was found as a stray in Madera, California. The cat was brought to Fresno Trap and Release (TNR) for neutering and vaccination, where a microchip scan revealed his identity. The organization contacted the family, and Dodger was flown to Florida, where the family drove seven hours to reunite with him. The reunion has been emotionally significant for the family, who lost the father of the children around the time Dodger disappeared.
