Heavy Rain and Localized Flooding Expected in Southern New England
Southern New England is under a Storm Team 10 Weather Alert as a strong cold front moves through the region on Monday, August 3, 2026. The system is drawing in tropical moisture, leading to widespread rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms. Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour have been observed, with additional accumulations of 2-4 inches possible in some areas. The heaviest rain is expected north and west of I-95, particularly in northwestern Rhode Island, central Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Gusty winds of 25-35 mph, with peaks near 40 mph in southeastern Massachusetts, are also forecast.
