South Arts Expands Literary Opportunities for Southern Writers with NEA Support
South Arts, a nonprofit regional arts organization, has expanded its programming to include literature through its Literary Arts Initiative. This expansion is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and aims to support writers and literary organizations across nine Southern states. The initiative includes the relaunch of the Southern Prize for Literature in partnership with Oxford American magazine, offering significant financial awards to writers. Additionally, South Arts is opening the next cycle of Literary Arts Project Grants, providing up to $5,000 per project to support literary arts organizations and small presses. These efforts are designed to encourage the creation and publishing of creative work, community engagement, and professional development, with a focus on individual writers and small, independent presses.
