eLoran Proposed as Solution to GNSS Interference in Maritime Navigation
The maritime industry faces significant challenges due to GNSS jamming and spoofing, particularly in strategic waterways like the Persian Gulf and Red Sea. The Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) reports widespread GNSS interference, impacting navigation safety. In response, eLoran is proposed as a robust alternative to GNSS, offering reliable Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) solutions. Countries like the UK, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia are investing in eLoran infrastructure to mitigate these risks. The technology provides a terrestrial backup for maritime navigation, enhancing security and operational reliability.
