Colorado Agencies Utilize Social Media Influencers for Public Information Campaigns
Two Colorado government agencies, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) and the Front Range Passenger Rail District, have engaged local social media influencers to disseminate public information. DRCOG's 'Way to Go' program, which promotes sustainable transportation, spent over $15,000 across two campaigns this year, primarily for a 'Bike to Work Day' initiative. Payments to influencers ranged from $250 to $2,300. Nisha Mokshagundam, who manages the 'Way to Go' program, stated that this is a relatively new tactic, with early metrics showing promising results, including 88% of website visitors from influencer campaigns being new.
