Qantas Flight to South America Diverted to Melbourne Due to Mechanical Issue
A Qantas flight from Sydney to Santiago, Chile, was forced to turn back to Melbourne after experiencing a mechanical issue. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, carrying nearly 200 passengers, was over four hours into its journey when it had to divert just past New Zealand. The aircraft landed in Melbourne at 11 PM, unable to return to Sydney due to curfew restrictions. Passengers reported being well cared for during the delay, with the airline providing food and accommodations. The flight is scheduled to depart again from Melbourne to Santiago at midday on Monday.
