India Enhances Customs Administration with Technology-Driven Reforms
Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary announced that India is strengthening its customs administration to be more technology-driven, transparent, and trade-friendly. Speaking at an event marking International Customs Day in New Delhi, the Minister highlighted reforms aimed at simplifying norms for international travelers and streamlining e-commerce and courier clearances. These measures are designed to support small and medium enterprises in accessing global markets. The government has introduced digital initiatives such as improved cargo registration, advanced scanning systems, and AI-based image analysis to enhance risk management. The Minister also inaugurated SWIFT 2.0, a digital single-window platform for traders, and ATITHI 2.0, an automated system for traveler declarations.
