South Korea's $49M AI Investment Aims to Transform Broadcasting Industry
The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has announced a significant investment of 72.767 billion Korean won (approximately $49.32 million) over the next four years in artificial intelligence (AI) research and development projects. This initiative is designed to enhance the global competitiveness of South Korea's broadcasting and media industry. The KCC's plan focuses on developing core technologies for intelligent media production, MyMedia platforms, and AI agent technologies for personalized media services. The initiative aims to address challenges arising from evolving media consumption patterns, such as the rise of online video services and the demand for personalized content. The KCC has consolidated and reorganized 14 industry R&D projects to streamline efforts and has already approved eight new projects this year, with a total funding of KRW7.9 billion ($5.36 million).
