WERA 96.7 Resumes Broadcasting with New Programming After Year-Long Hiatus
WERA 96.7, a local FM radio station, is set to resume broadcasting after a year-long hiatus. The station went off-air in July 2025 following the collapse of Arlington Independent Media, which previously managed it. Radio Arlington, a new nonprofit organization, has taken over the station's license and is working to resolve technical issues to meet a broadcasting deadline. The organization aims to establish a 100% volunteer-run community radio station, focusing on local content such as debates, independent news, music, and cultural programming. The Federal Communications Commission granted temporary authority to use a temporary antenna, with a deadline to resume transmissions by 11:59 p.m. today.
