Seasats' Quickfish Drone Boat Enters Production, Demonstrates Two-Week Endurance in Navy Exercise
Seasats, a San Diego-based company, has announced that its 17-foot interceptor drone boat, the Quickfish, is now in production and can be supplied in volume. This development follows a successful two-week Navy electronic-warfare exercise on the Michigan shoreline, where a production Quickfish operated continuously with various payloads. The Quickfish is designed for speed and carries aerial drones within a watertight bay in its hull, which can accommodate multiple aircraft of different sizes and types. These aerial drones are kept charged by four powered ports inside the bay. The Quickfish is an evolution of Seasats' Lightfish, an 11-foot solar drone known for its long endurance. While the Lightfish prioritizes months-long operation, the Quickfish trades some endurance for speed, capable of sprinting over 34 knots and potentially exceeding 40 knots, with a range exceeding 400 nautical miles.
