Bus Crash in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula Kills 22, Injures 28, Highlighting Road Safety Concerns
A passenger bus overturned on a desert highway in Egypt's eastern Sinai Peninsula, resulting in 22 fatalities and 28 injuries. The incident occurred on the road connecting the Red Sea resort towns of Dahab and Nuweiba. Among the deceased were 10 Jordanian nationals, as reported by Jordan's state-run Al-Mamlaka television. The bus was carrying a total of 43 people, including 22 Jordanians. Egypt's health ministry confirmed the death toll, which was an increase from an earlier count of 16, and stated that 20 ambulances were dispatched to the scene to transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the accident. Footage from AFP showed the overturned bus and debris scattered along the roadside.
